The Health & Wellness Programme,
spearheaded by Dr. Alka Saxena, Associate Director (Social &
Emotional Learning), BBGS, presented an insightful overview of Social
and Emotional Learning (SEL) during the Back to School session
for LKG & UKG. The display highlighted the role of SEL as
the foundation of a child’s holistic development.
To enhance parents’ understanding of SEL, a series of interactive
and experiential activities—including Creative Drawing, Feelings
Matter, and Pandora’s Box—were conducted. These activities
encouraged parents to reflect on emotions, explore diverse perspectives,
and appreciate the importance of expressing feelings in healthy ways.
The initiative proved especially meaningful for parents of
young learners, as it not only emphasized the need to nurture
emotional intelligence from an early age but
also offered practical strategies to support children’s
emotional growth at home. By actively engaging in the activities, parents
experienced first-hand how SEL fosters resilience,
strengthens family bonds, and cultivates a positive mindset.
