In a bid to nurture a
safe, respectful, and inclusive school environment, Health & Wellness Team,
of Brahm Dutt Blue Bells Public School took a pioneering step by organizing Genesis
– Health & Wellness Fiesta, an intra-school mega life skills event
powered by Adept – A Program for Enhancing Life Skills, in collaboration
with wellnesswise.in, on December 12, 2024.
Under the esteemed
mentorship of Dr. Alka Saxena, Deputy Director (Health & Wellness),
BBGS, this initiative aims to empower the younger generation to unite
against bullying. The event was aligned with World Mental Health Day 2024, and
the students presented their symposium on the topic “Don’t Stand By, Stand
Up, Stand Together: Let’s Unite to Stop Bullying and Create a Safe and
Welcoming Environment for All.”
Adding a distinctive dimension,
the two-day Symposium as part of
Genesis
2024, was conducted under the school’s Peer Educator-Led Programme (PELP)
framework wherein
students of grade IX and XI emphasised the need to create a safe space for
students, teachers, and staff towards bullying, its impacts, and strategies for
prevention. The Preliminary round was conducted on December 10, 2024, which
comprised of Eight Teams: Four teams from Grade IX and Four teams from Grade
XI. The key takeaways were - Importance of empathy, Inclusivity, Role of
bystanders, Effective communication strategies etc.
The top two teams from
each class were finally selected to present their research findings on December12,
2024. The event provided a dynamic platform for these young changemakers to
emphasize the importance of addressing bullying while fostering a culture of
solidarity and compassion. The Peer Educators had further showcased a theme-based
dance- drama presentation sensitizing the audience towards the impact of
bullying on each stakeholder.
Speaking on the occasion,
Dr. Alka Saxena congratulated each team on their outstanding presentations and collective
efforts toward creating a bully-free environment. She further emphasized that
as a community, we must set an inspiring example by demonstrating that the
strongest people stand up for others. The School Principal, Dr. Trilok Singh
Bist and Vice Principal, Ms. Roopali Kudesia addressed the audience to work
together to find effective solutions to combat bullying.
